Teo Placemat
This Placemat is made with 100% vegetal fibers from the bush in Santiago del Estero. Materials are dried for three to four days before the knitting process begins: rural working women dye and cook the straw, then knit the placemat using spiral, coil, and fine knitting techniques. Details are embroidered with unquillo, dyed or toasted chala (corn husks) and palm leaves. Each Chami placemat is the result of 24 hours of labor.
Care: Use a dry brush for cleaning. To remove stains, wet the brush with water.
"Chura" fuses ancient crafts and techniques with original design. Santiago Ancestral is based in several rural communities in Santiago del Estero in remote or inhospitable places. Each product highlights the role of the rural working woman as the primary breadwinner and maker of culture. The company's mission is to create dignified jobs and overall wellbeing for the rural family.
